Hey guys :) I thought it would be a cool idea to find out the translations of catchphrases from popular tv/movie characters, plus the English word for word translation

For example, Joey from Friends' "How you doin'?" in Spanish is translated as "Como va eso?".

It would be awesome if you included a video :)

thanks

While I don't have links,

The Family Guy's Quagmire, "Giggity, giggity, alright!" en francais; "Giggity Giggity, d'accord." cool

And Stewie Griffin, "Victory shall be mine!"; "Victoire sera le mien!"

Julien Lepers is an entire catchphrase in himself. He presents a quizz game on French television.

" Oui, oui oui !"  " Oh c'est beau" " Et c'est leeeee champion !!"

cool

I just can think of cartoons!! Anyway, in Spain:

Quagmire says "¡toma, toma, toma!" (giggity, giggiry, alright)

Homer Simpson says "¡ouch!" and "mosquis" (d'oh!)

Bart Simpson says "¡multiplícate por cero!" (eat my shorts, but lit. it means 'multiply yourself by cero')

Porky pig says "Esto es to…esto es to… ¡esto es todo amigos!" (That's all folks)

Bugs Bunny says "¿Qué hay de nuevo, viejo?" (What's up, Doc?)

Tweety (who is called Piolín in Spanish) says "Me pareció ver un lindo gatito" (I tawt I taw a putty tat)

In South Park they say "¡oh dios mío! ¡han matado a Kenny! – ¡Hijos de puta!" (Omg, they killed Kenny – you bastards!)

For those of us who remember the show Different Strokes, Gary Coleman's character Arnold,

"Whatchu talkin' 'bout Willis?" en francais "Qu'est-ce que vous parlez à propos de Willis?"

Just for anyone who's pretty new to English, the question is slang for "What are you talking about?".

Slightly off topic,  but when I was in Provence last year, our waiter spoke impeccable English, almost with a faint New York. "You've spent a bit of time in the States, no?" I asked him.

"Never," he said.

"But your English is perfect. How'd you learn it?"

"Watching Seinfeld on satellite TV," he said.

Not that's a man who's master of his domain!

"May the force be with you" is "Möge die Macht mit dir sein" in German

Pocohantas sings "Kannst du malen wie das Farbenspiel des Winds" (Can you paint like the play of colors in the wind?) instead of "Can you paint with all the colors of the wind"

Now for some Spongebob…

The episode where they're in a wishing well and Squidward says he's claustrophobic and Patrick (being Patrick) impersonates Santa Claus (because that's what claustrophobic means – fear of Santa). In the German version (since the Santa Claus pun doesn't work) Patrick makes fun of Squidward for being afraid of everyone named Klaus.

The episode from the first season where Sandy is homesick and wants to go back to Texas so Spongebob and Patrick try to get her to stay. Remember "Texas is dumb"? In German they say "Texas ist doof". Later in the episode Patrick makes fun of Texas by saying "Get a dog little loggie" (something like that?) But in German he says "Ich bin ein Kuhbauer und fress Pferdemist" which means I'm a cow farmer and (I) eat horse manure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rklL8181dCs
