So has anyone been able to use Benny's install of LWT? It's never worked for me, I have come back several times (because I have been assuming that Benny was still working out bugs) but I always see this error:

Illegal mix of collations (latin1_swedish_ci,IMPLICIT) and (utf8_general_ci,COERCIBLE) for operation '='

It's at the top of every page, I can't view the test french text that is up, I tried adding a Japanese text and it said it uploaded but I can't select any other language but french and the text I uploaded doesn't even show up at all. When I try to view the french text (which I'm assuming is a demo) I just get a blank page with the same error at the top.

I tried clicking around various options but nothing actually works at all or does anything, I do get a "thinking" icon so it looks like something is gonna load or change but then nothing. I just assumed that it's broken for now?

Any word on when it will be up?

This is the first I'm hearing about this error. It's working for everyone else and every day I get emails from people saying how much they are enjoying it.

What did you do when you set it up?

The problem is VERY likely due to your username, as that has been the main issue some have had to date – the system just crashes in creating your account based on your forum username.

In most cases I have tweaked it to replace spaces and other strange characters for new sign ups, but I haven't come across someone with a username entirely made out of foreign characters yet and that could involve quite a lot of recoding.

Can you try creating a new account with a Latin character username and see if that works?

I never did anything to set it up, I just logged in. I have changed my username from a disgusting, filthy, savage, "foreign" name to something that's less offensive. EDIT: And it looks like that works.

It's nothing about it being disgusting, but the forum supports foreign characters, spaces etc. and for the moment my conversion of forum->LWT doesn't, but I've tweaked it to remove spaces and other particular characters in the conversion process.

Glad it works after you made the switch :)

Half-curious and half-suggesting here: why don't you use the numeric id from WordPress' users (wp_users?) table rather than the login? That way you won't have this particular problem, and you remove the potential for SQL injections you may have by using logins.
