OfflineHow did you come to find Benny the Irish Polyglot and FI3M? I was looking for reviews of the Live Mocha website and *BAM*, there was his blog in my Google search. I added it to my Google Reader feed and been following ever since. That was, hmm, about a year ago?
I'm just curious, especially since we have such a diverse group of people here (although it seems that the one thing we all have in common is that we speak English to some degree).

OfflineI have been making a research about listening comprehension and found link at Google somewhere. I got interested. I am reading the blog from the start and I have already discovered many interesting sources for languages. I haven't any special chance to use Benny's speaking immersion method so far (rejective foreigners, blah) but I am going to give it a chance!

OfflineI came to the site by searching in Google for German language grammar, and haven't left yet! Lol. It fascinates me that so many people know so many different languages! I have a Polish lady in my office that I am itching to pick the brain of now…so, that'll be my "next" mission. I'm thinking I may focus on my German first, though! I was running into issues learning my German, but this website really inspired me to just go with it. That's SO valuable! Wish I'd found the website before I'd shelled out so much money on materials, though, because now I have to wait to buy the guide.
Overall, awesome site, and I am glad that I found it!

OfflineI was debating with a fellow Canadian-living-in-Germany about whether or not kids learn languages more easily than adults. I was trying to argue that given the same hours of exposure, etc., adults would actually learn faster. This was based on nothing but my own experience, but I was totally convinced anyway. I was googling, trying to find actual facts to support my position, when I found Benny's blog. Meanwhile this colleague was sending me links to stuff like that TED talk about the linguistic genious of babies.

OfflineInteresting topic! I've been following Benny for years, even before http://www.fluentin3months.com existed. I'm not sure where I first heard about him, it might have been in the forums at http://www.proz.com (a website for translators) and I discovered his old website http://www.irishpolyglot.com. It's the fact that he was working as a freelance translator while traveling full-time that got me interested, as I'm also a freelance translator that travels a lot (although not as much as Benny).

Same here. The first post of his that I saw was in a topic where someone had asked for advice about becoming a translator. I was thoroughly impressed not only with Benny's achievement of becoming location-independent, but also with how helpful and enthusiastic he was in sharing his experiences. I clicked over to his blog from there and got hooked

OfflineA few months ago I was inspired to pick up French and I did lots of searching online. I read quite a bit of Scott H Young's blog because my obsession was more along the lines of becoming a super organised person. I remember seeing Benny's name there and on a few different sites but I didn't bother investigating him further…
Then a few weeks ago I was re-inspired and googline and came across his post about Niall Doherty and thought – YES this is for me

OfflineI was browsing the "linguistics" section of xkcd forums, and someone linked to the FI3M in one of the posts about language learning. Not even to a specific article, just to the main page of Benny's blog. I immediately subscribed and read as much as I could; I had been studying Dutch for a while on my own, but I didn't really like any of the language-related websites I had found until this one…
