OfflineMy overall mission is to be at B2/C1 in French in six months. I plan to update this log every week with my progress and goals for the next week.
So, for this week, my goals are to:
1. Speak french every day
2. Go to the Alliance Francais and pay my library fine, entirely in french
3. Take out a copy of Bien Dire magazine and read it over the course of the week
4. Find some French TV shows/movies to watch (any suggestions would be welcome)
My goals for the month are to at least use french every day in some form (i.e. read, listen, speak). If I can do this for 30 days, I think I will be well on my way.
I have some french in my background, so I am not starting from scratch, but I haven't used any french in many years. I hope it is stored in my brain somewhere.

Here is what I hope this says:
Thank you for the websites! They look interesting. Of course, I am going to speak and read in French every day during my vacation. Maybe I will write too.
Also, I need to get my computer to type with accents, etc. Any suggestions?

OfflineIt depends on your OS. Usually you have some Language and Keyboard settings which would show you available keyboards. I use Canadian French layout.

OfflineDéjà, bonne année et bonne chance. Tu as TV5 monde chez toi ?

OfflineHello,
I have been away and my access to the internet was not good. The only thing I had with me was a French grammar book, so I read some of that every day.
Tuco, I am still trying to figure out how to speak every day. I am signed up on Verbling and would like to Skype with some very patient people if possible. I can read and write much better than I can speak. I am involved with the Alliance Francais and have a few friends at school who speak french, but I don't see them every day.
Koyomi, thanks for the info. I will check out Arte and the TV5 website. If you know of any other good sites, I would like to hear about them.
Merci bien!

OfflineUpdate:
The library at the Alliance Francais finally reopened after construction. I went there yesterday and took out a couple of easy books and a copy of Bien Dire. I also paid a late fee and renewed my membership number and password. I did it all in French. The woman at the desk was very patient and nice. She only spoke English to me once but I just kept speaking French and she did too. All in all a pretty successful visit.
While I feel like I am off to a bit of a slow start speaking-wise, I have been working on my French every day either through watching French TV, listening to French audio books, or reading in French. I haven't spoken as much as I need to, so I will be trying to Skype this week. Overall, it feels good to be making some progress.
Merci,
jplwine
