Hi Everyone,

I would like to learn some French in 2 months to use when I go to French Polynesia for my Honeymoon at the end of September. I know this is not the native language, but French is still spoken there and I want to learn French as well as Italian, since that is one of my background languages (the other being English).

I will start on Italian after I get back and hope to be fluent before I possibly go to Italy in May 2012.

Any great sites to start learning French and Italian would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Mark – if you search through other threads we gave a bunch of resources for French TV or podcasts. Trying to follow these will help with your comprehension!
Without a serious intensive mission it will be hard to "learn French" in two months, but you can focus specifically on what you want to say and understand rather than starting on a bottom-up grammar course. Try to get through a phrasebook (I gave some tips for remembering phrases through music in the free chapter of the Language Hacking Guide sent in the welcome email of the LHL).
A phrasebook will give you much more essentials than courses would in 2 months – and if you try to meet up with natives you can hit them with your phrases and try to understand their replies
