Bonjour tout le monde!

My name is Keaton, I am 14 years old, and I've been studying French since May of this year (2012). I took a test, and it placed me in the B1 category. I realized that I had actually made progress! I want to be "C1" in french before the end of this year. But by doing this, I am attempting to do one of the biggest things I've ever done: Committing to a goal.

As you all know, learning a language is not a simple process. But it can be a lot easier if you break down the big picture into small fragments. We've seen Benny do it hundreds of times. Why can't we?

That's why my goal is to become fluent in 4 months. I'll give myself one more month than Benny. It isn't much time, but I think I can do this.

In order to reach this massive goal, I will blog once every two weeks to update anyone who actually is interested in reading this, post my goal for the next two weeks, and ask for advice that can help me succeed.

I also want to try to start a Youtube channel. If I do make one, I'll post a link in one of my future posts. I will use this to talk about my personal experiences on learning a language, the materials I use, and also some "aha!" moments that I have while studying the language.

If you speak french natively, or you just want someone to practice with (via Skype), I'd be happy to get the help!

    Wish me luck!

    -Keaton H.

Salut Keaton! C'est une belle mission que tu t'es fixé là. Je te souhaite de réussir, et je suivrais avec plaisir ton avancée sur ce forum. Par pure curiosité, je me demandais: d'où viens-tu? Est-ce que ton grand-père est français?

And so begins the second update!

For the past two weeks I learned…

1. Many clothing names including shirt, shoes, socks, pants, tie, ect.

2. how to say many body parts in french including arm, legs, stomach, head, nose, mouth, ect.

3. the basics of the future tense*

*About the future tense; can anyone tell me how much it is used and also its formality? It would be very helpful smile

For the next two weeks, I would like to…

1. be able to describe my day (in school and out) COMPLETELY in french

2. learn 20 more verbs (I'll develop a list soon)

3. start a blog so I can keep a daily log for anyone who is interested

4. translate 3 songs into english from "Le Roi Lion: la bande originale de la comédie musical" which I recently purchased off of iTunes

Thanks to anyone who actually reads this. It is such great support! Please reply if you fell the need to do so. I need all the help I can get! smile
