Hello!

I'm a new user here. I'm from Finland and therefore a native Finnish speaker. I also speak fluent English, some Swedish and I have the basics of Russian and Japanese. I have always been a bit lazy with learning the languages, but now I have decided to change that. I'm going to learn Mandarin Chinese. Actually my goal is not (yet) to learn the language, my goal is to learn to learn languages.

It might take a little time me to get a hang of this forum thing, but the meanwhile I'm also writing a blog. Addition to language learning, I also write about China and the Chinese culture. I would really appreciate, if you'd comment what you think about my blog and what I could improve. The address is http://bananaboattochina.blogspot.fi/ and here's a posting about my language learning background, have a look! :)

Hello,

It's a great goal to learn Chinese.

I'd like to do the same.

Opening a blog on the subject will help you to stay motivated.

About your blog, it depends on your goal.

If you just want to talk about chinese culture with your friends,

it's good.

Else, there are some things to improve (have your own URL to begin with)

See you

Fabrice

Hey,

The blog is not going to be anything professional (not going to add ads or anything), so I think the url is fine. Neither I'm not going to try to teach Chinese, rather to describe the process of the language learning, so I might inspire and motivate people to learn too. For the time being, this is just a hobby.

What else there is that I could improve?

Hi,

I like your blog, just keep it up! One suggestion: put up a video of your speaking mandarin! :)

I'm also thinking about starting to learn chinese and have been reading your blog about how you've gone about it. I just have a couple of questions, if you don't mind: Now that you've been studying chinese for awhile, would you have made any differences in your learning strategies, had you started all over again? And the course that you use, Michel Thomas – would you recommend it?

Thanks!

Adam
