OfflineI'd say Rammstein, but they're not rappers.
The lead singer has a very strong bass voice and IMHO he says the words very clearly.
Their songs talk about a variety of topics as well and many of the songs are very funny.
I believe the most well known is Du hast, even though most other songs are not exactly like it.
I second Rammstein. I've been a huge fan of theirs way before I actually got interested in learning German because their music kicks so much ass and now that I'm learning German, its nice to be able to immerse myself in music that I love that just happens to be in my target language.
5 or 6 of my texts in my LWT are actually lyrics to various Rammstein songs :) I'm sure you will be able to find a few songs of theirs that you like!
Viel glück!

OfflineThe Scorpions are also German, but I've never heard them sing in German.
Thats a shame! I love The Scorpions and would love to use them as a German study aid :P
That being said, The Beatles recorded a few German versions of their popular songs (huge Beatles fan here
)
There's "Komm Gib Mir Deine Hand" (I wanna Hold Your Hand) and "Sie Liebt Dich" (She Loves You)
The songs are VERY beginner German and I have both the lyrics in my LWT, lol.

OfflineBut I have to say that they have a really strong accent, so maybe it's not very good for pronounciation practice.
Probably no worse than someone speaking German with a strong New England/Boston accent :P Either way, getting the German "sound" will probably be quite an obstacle for me, lol.
(Disclaimer: This is no way will help improve your German!)
Was listening to The Beatles' German songs on youtube just now and found this version of "Get Back" titled "Geht Raus" and its pretty much just The Beatles BS'ing and singing random German words to the tune of "Get Back". Like I said, definitely WON'T improve your German, but its kinda funny to listen to

OfflineHere’s a group which would probably refuse to be categorised as rap, although the following song is close enough to rap for any learner's purposes:

As with most songs posted in this topic so far, keep in mind that the lyrics feature some slang words which might not be appropriate in some contexts.

OfflineSome großartige reccomendations!
I absolutely love Rammstein and Eisbrecher. Their lyrics are great source of idiomatic expressions, fun wordplays and puns as well as very much vocabulary-enriching.
I shall recommend one of my favorite German singers of all time, Laith Al-Deen. His songs are absolutely wunderbar!
Can anyone recommend some more indie-type German music? It seems that German music recommendations are always industrial (do Germans still actually listen to Rammstein and Eisbrecher?), electronic, or rap. I listen to rap sometimes, but the other two genres are not my preference.
Some hiphop artists I've enjoyed so far are Fettes Brot, Die Fantastischen Vier, and Freundeskreis. For pop-rock, Wir Sind Helden, die Toten Hosen, and die Ärtze are names I often come across, and I find them okay. I can also recommend 2Raumwohnung, Silbermond, and Rosenstolz. The only German artist I've come across so far whom I really, really like is Joy Denalane, an R&B artist who sounds like Lauryn Hill.
