My post is going far beyond where I dreamed it would go!

As a passionate LWT user, I can't tell how excited I am that LWT is being given the chance to become a useful tool for many language learners. I wonder what the folks at LingQ will come up with when LWT is online.  It's definitely good to have competition to foster progress!

Hey LWT,

Is 1.1.1 just an upgrade? The initial dbinstall.sql file is not in the 1.1.1 zip.

Thanks!

If it is like 1.1.0

The database is created either by a link in the application or by creating your first language

The database installation is (since a few releases) within the application. Read the documentation. cool

Sorry, but I think my reply wasn't "crass". I didn't write "RTFM". Maybe I should have written "Please read…".

(I often ask myself: Why am I writing such a long documentation if nobody reads it?? frown  )

The documentation (or install steps) I used was from sourceforge link posted by the OP.

In method 2 Step 4:

Go to http://sourceforge.net/projects/lwt and download the latest zip archive lwt_v_x_y.zip

Followed the video, but had no .sql file. – Then asked you a simple question.

I`m just trying to use your app.

Text above the video: "Important: The installation of the database via phpMyAdmin (in the video 4:23 … 6:42) isn't anymore necessary, you can do this now within LWT."

Within the installation instructions, I don't see a reference to an .sql file.

Believe me, it works, if you follow the steps. Don''t follow the outdated video. If you follow the video, ignore 4:23 … 6:42 in the video.

LWT 1.2.0 released:
Tagging of terms introduced. Tags are little pieces of information (20 characters max., no spaces, no commas, case
sensitive!) attached to terms to help you catagorize and organize your terms. You can import (CSV, TSV) and export
(Anki, TSV) terms together with tag information. Two new tables save tag information, and they are created
automatically during first usage after update.
Display of example sentences is now delayed.
Backup creates the database SQL file now as a gzipped file. Restore can process old unzipped or new gzipped files.
Gzipped files are much smaller in size (10-20 % of original size).
Documentation and screenshots updated.

If you find bugs please inform me in the help forum: http://sourceforge.net/projects/lwt/forums/forum/1813497

Hey Benny, I sent you an email last night in case you missed it – I assume you still want to set it up for testing by the end of this week before you're gone.  Also Marcau I can PM you again if you're still interested in getting it to work too.

LWT 1.2.1 (August 25 2011) has been released.

NEW:

New Rewind and Fast Forward button for audio player.

User can set the time to rewind or fast forward from 1 to 10 seconds.

Added a section in the help document about the setup of LWT for iPads, etc.

@anno:

Please keep in mind that LWT does not yet support "Right-to-left" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right-to-left) languages (like Arabic, Hebrew, etc).

Oh when will right-to-left support be added? I'm studying Hebrew as well as maintaining Korean and would like to use it for both languages.

LWT 1.2.2 released:

Removed a bug that prevented Strg-C/Cmd-C (and other key strokes) in text/test frames.

Added column "Percentage Unknown Words" in Texts table.

Removed language column in Texts/Terms tables if language filter is set.

During reading a text, you can now create terms that do not occur in the text. Click on the yellow icon in the top left frame, and type in the term, translation, etc. You may now also edit the text directly.

Documentation and screenshots updated.

Enjoy. And don't forget to report bugs… cool

Thanks for adding the ability to create a new term from the reading interface!

That's the main thing I love about LWT, an active developer who cares about its application and listens to and implements feedback from users!

@dusckshirt Thanks for getting that all back to me so quickly! I was travelling this week so I'm finding it hard to catch up on everything, especially since I'm preparing to go entirely offline for 9 days as explained in the blog post. If I get most of my to-do list done, I'll try to have that up today! If so I'll reply here and people can test it out while I'm gone. Otherwise it will have to make its fi3m debut in September.

Hopefully adding RTL support isn't too much of a technical hurdle, as that would truly allow us to use it for any language.
