I would like to introduce yet another tool that will help you with learning with texts. The focus is somewhat different than linqQ and LWT, it is basically a website where you can create "cloze test flashcards".
Check out http://www.learnclick.com
With traditional cloze tests you only can check the answer once you have filled in all the gaps. Learnclick transforms a text into flashcards. On each flashcard you will be shown an extract of the text and only have one gap to fill out. Otherwise it works like a traditional flashcard computer program, letting you schedule when you want to review the next time.

OfflineI downloaded it and installed it on my Macbook Pro -- it works very nicely! I'm going to definitely use it to keep track of a lot of my Korean reading!

The next version 1.3.0 will have rudimentary RTL support for Hebrew, Arabic, etc., plus tags for texts and archived texts.

OfflineOh wow, the screen shot doesn't look rudimentary but looks pretty good.^^

LWT 1.3.0 has been released:
Tagging of texts and archived texts introduced. With this feature, it will be easier to categorize and organize your
texts. After having tagged your texts, you are able to filter texts according to one or two tags.
Rudimentary right-to-left (rtl) script support: new db field in languages to set a language to right-to-left script, all
relevant parts with respect to rtl support changed. A simple Hebrew example added to demonstrate rtl support.
Documentation, screenshots, Anki example file updated.
After Installation, please clear your browser cache.

OfflineOh wow, I'll download and install in a couple hours after my Hebrew class!!
I was going to ask if you could introduce a feature where I would be able to tag my texts or somehow organize them. Thank you! You read my mind.^^
This (after Anki) is probably the most amazing language software out there . . . . I can't get enough of it. . and have been recommending it to all my family members (who are each studying several languages themselves).

LWT 1.4.0 has been released today:
Mobile Version (experimental, via mobile.php): Selection of Language, Text, and Sentence, Playing the audio (if exists), Reading the text either sentence-by-sentence or term-by-term (saved words shown with translation, romanization, and status (via color). This mobile interface does not yet allow data manipulations.
Texts, archived texts and terms can now also be filtered by "untagged".
A "Repeat Audio / Single Play" toggle button for media player was added.
In 1.3.1:
New multi actions for marked/all terms:
Set Terms to Lowercase, Capitalize Terms, Delete Sentences of Terms.

OfflineAnd it's ready!!

Everyone, please go directly to fluentin3months.com/lwt
or if you are on a mobile device, go to fi3m.com/lwt (redirects to same page, but you can type it quicker).
The entire system is available for free here on Fi3M! Advantages over self installation:
- No complicated set up procedure. If you are logged into the site on the forum, you should automatically see it as soon as you go to the link above. You have your own database that nobody else has access to. i.e., the set-up procedure is to type in the URL, nothing more (other than creating your languages, uploading texts etc.)
- No need to update it yourself. When there is an update to the software, I'll add it myself and that will apply to everyone automatically. This may take a day or two from when it's made available, depending on how complex the update is.
- Can use it on every interface - the problem with the installation procedure is that you can only use it on your computer if you install it offline. Using the online version you can check your text on your computer, mobile device, public computer etc. – just log in with your forum username and password!
So give it a whirl, and send me on your feedback! When it's definitely working for everyone, I'll add an LWT subforum to the site for further discussion, and eventually a blog post will encourage everyone to have a look.
It's so good I've been importing some texts in Klingon to test it out
(Can't use the online dictionary feature of course, as you would in major languages)
I'm so excited to have this on Fi3M, and hope that many people start using the site to actually learn their target language, beyond reading my tips and discussing it in the forums.
Feedback welcome! Thanks!

Offlinewell…it may be that I'm on my iPad, but I clicked the link and it directed me to a page with many "My_SQL" errors..I refreshed and it said something was wrong with the database. Should I perhaps try this on my laptop instead, are you guys still working on it or is it something else?

OfflineIt actually seems like an excellent resource, especially here on Fi3M. I'll definitely get to trying it out soon. I'm still confused with how I actually import texts and sound into it though (not particularly computer literate)…

OfflineActually, sorry, Benny, but I can't paste it…the original long error text was replaced when I re-clicked the link. It was saying something about the database already being in use, about it being duplicated and some sort of user error (I swear all I did was click on the link!). Now all it says is, "There is something wrong with your database. Please reinstall."

Offline@Chrystal – can you try it now? He reckons it could be that there is a space in your name and MySQL can't handle those so we've created a work around.
If that error comes up again (or if someone else sees it), please send me the details or paste here as that describes why a problem is occurring. Hopefully it was the space in your name!
@Nkelly To import a text just create a text and paste it in

OfflineI like the format. Does one have to upload any texts that they wish to read, or is there going to be a library built into the system eventually? Also, I find the "test" slightly repetitive (i.e. 6 and half minutes of the same few phrases with no end in sight), I ended up just exporting the list of unknowns to Anki for the sheer ease of it. The basic format is very user friendly though.
@Benny: I've found a few online dictionaries of the Klingon language. You can most likely make them work with LWT!

@jpike1028: yeah, you upload your own texts. If you have suggestions on how to improve testing, please leave your feedback at lwt.uservoice.com. You definitely shouldn't do them if you find them boring. I never do testing myself ^_^.
@Benny
Thank you for making this available for everybody here on fluentin3months.com.
Please don't forget to optimize/compress the tables from time to time (that seems to be deactivated as far as I can see this).
Well done!

What do you mean optimize/compress the tables ? Do individual users need to do so too ? How ? What effects on users data ?

If you delete many records, the size of the table could be reduced. This is not done automatically in MySQL. In order to do this, you issue the command: "OPTIMIZE TABLE tablename".
In the standard version of LWT, this is done always when you load the main page of LWT.
In Benny's version this seems not the case, therefore my hint in above's post.
