I know that you can order a simple japanese textbook, "advertures in Japanese", and also basic kanji book for knaji eventually.

When I started learning, Lingaton's Comprehensive Japanese was my main source. It helped a lot with my basics and to this day, it is still the reference I go to. Otherwise, there are plenty of Japanese resources online.

Here are some:

HI guys, I ve been learning Japanese and living in Japan for about four years now. I found the Minna no Nihongo Textbook series really good or beginners. You need to be able to read Hiragana though. But the first two beginner books have furigana on top of all the kanji which makes it really easy.

For Kanji , I found the Heisig method unbeatable , using it the last 3 and a half years I have been able to remember and write from memory almost all the 常用漢字 (the list of about 2000 kanji japanese kids learn until they finish junior high school) I didnt use the second heisig book though that teaches you how to read them. For this I read lots of stuff that had furigana on top and more importantly did the "drills" for elementary school kids (Japanese kids learn 1006 kanji in elementary school). So if you have the chance to buy these type of drills at a Japanese book store I really recommend it.

Other than that entering sentences into an SRS (in my case anki) helped me a lot to learn how to read in Japanese.

Hope that helps!
