  • Fondness is warm liking, often gentler than love: “I still have a fondness for that town.”
  • Passion is a powerful feeling and can be romantic, creative or connected to an activity: “They shared a passion for music.”
  • Tenderness combines gentleness and affection: “He spoke to the child with tenderness.”

Amar means to love and can sound more formal, poetic or intense than querer in some settings.

In Marc Okrand’s Klingon materials, parmaq is conventionally translated as “love” or “romance”, although the fictional concept is deliberately not identical to the English one.
